Give your Home a Signature Style

If you’re looking for a home to call your own that’s perfectly suited to your tastes, you’re in luck. Swan Design, Inc., has the creativity and reputation you require to create a true custom home or renovation specifically for you.

Residential Designer Tim Swan opened the doors to his company in 1994 after following a passion – and notable talent – he discovered in his first drafting class back in his high school days reinforced by 12 years working for a custom architectural firm then a production builder in Charlotte. He has been providing superior home designs at Swan Design ever since.

But don’t just take our word for it. In the first competitions the firm ever entered, they took home first place in the Lake Norman area for both their 2006 categories – best custom home over 5,000 square feet, and best renovation for over $250,000.

Swan Design specializes in home design, remodels, and CADD drafting services for three niches: custom, renovation and environmental. What’s currently hot in this area design-wise? “We’re seeing more craftsman style, mountain style, and French Country,” Tim says. “People want a look different from the transitional style that has been popular.” Most of Tim’s work is on custom homes with an average range of 4,000 to 6,000 square feet, but Swan Design has worked on larger and smaller as well.

“Our mission is to provide clients with high quality, accurate and detailed custom designs for single family homes, additions and renovations,” he says. Tim streamlines the procedure to make the process as simple as possible for the client.

If you are interested in a custom home, there is an in-office complimentary consultation during which you explain the style you have in mind, number of bedrooms and so on. Tim uses a design checklist to assure no detail is overlooked, then goes about incorporating all your ideas while working out any design issues. From there, several options are presented and agreed upon; meetings and revisions follow and then, voila the final product.

For renovations, the process is nearly the same except Tim goes on site for a consultation fee that’s naturally applied to the overall design fee for the work.

Each home design includes thoroughly detailed working drawings and is designed using the latest technology in home-construction methods. Each design is copyrighted, and never repeated or resold. Structural engineering consultants are always involved in the design process to ensure all designs meet local and state building code requirements.

Swan Design is available to discuss your particular needs and will give you sound advice with regard to good design practices and how to incorporate them into your current project.
