Mementos for Your Home

Have you visited a place that haunted your memory for years to come? Sedona is a place that comes to mind for many because of its creative and spiritual forces. Zuhre Arinc visited Sedona, Arizona and vowed to name her daughter after Sedona Miller Schnebly, born in 1877, wife of the city’s first postmaster and renown as a great hostess and entrepreneur. Having a sole son, the spirit of Sedona rose within her and she opened up a very unique decor boutique in April, aptly called, Sedona Boutique.

Urban Home visited with Zuhre. She described her shop as woman oriented, specializing in the WOW factor with handcrafted yet functional, one of-a-kind pieces. “If you are looking for a special gift, not a department store buy,” she says emphatically, “come to Sedona.” You will find an intoxicating smorgasbord of artistic and handcrafted items such as glass beaded chandeliers and
Bovano copper sculptures made in Connecticut.

She is the authorized retailer for exclusive lines such as Stephen Kitras, glassblower extraordinaire and Max Howard, naturalistic metal sculptor from North Carolina. An international bazaar, the shop is chock full of unusual and opulent items originating from all over the globe; handetched Turkish copper plates, hand-blown orbs from Poland, metallic baskets from Italy, glass figurines from Russia and lasercut silk scarves from England. The list is staggering and goes on.

Collectors will find sought-after artists such as: Peggy Karr, creator of hand-fused, signed, microwaveable and dishwasher safe glass dishware; and Mario Hernandez, renown worldwide for his leather, signed handbags from Columbia. Jablonski crystal and metal sculptures adorn the shelves, found elsewhere only in museums and galleries, notably the American Museum of Glass in Corning. Inge hand-crafted glass ornaments, made from 100 year old molds are German heirlooms to pass on to future generations.

Featured recently in the 2007 March issue of Oprah magazine, Baekgaard colorful leather collection of passport and checkbook covers, address and notebooks make great gifts for college students as well as their busy moms. Elegantly displayed in glass cabinets are shimmering earrings and necklaces that you won’t see on your girlfriend, unless you give it to her for her birthday! Add a trinket box sprinkled with Swarovski crystals and jewels for treasured memories. Gift cards and complimentary gift wrapping are available.
