South Park Location, Condo Living Lifestyle

Grubb Properties focuses on city life at the street level, and they do it well. Their plan to offer high-end, new-urban housing in Charlotte's "slate roof neighborhoods" - attracting empty nesters, professional couples, and new residents to the Queen City - is proceeding as planned. Case in point is a diverse collection of condominium offerings at Grubb's emerging Morrison neighborhood in South Park.

Loft studio condominiums, urban condo flats, even a pair of $1-million luxury residences atop an upcoming boutique - all can be found at the corner of Sharon and Colony Roads.

The community is abuzz. "Morrison as a neighborhood is coming together," says Steve Biggerstaff, Grubb's vice president of sales and marketing. "The first phase is virtually completed, with 333 residences of various types overlooking a streetscape that includes Earth Fare's gourmet grocery, Tuscan and Pan-Pacific dining at Arooji's and Yama Asian Fusion, and a collection of boutique merchants featuring original jewelry, antiques, wine, activewear, spa and salon services, fine silks and more."

"By spring 2008, residents will also be just steps from the upcoming Barnes & Noble, Stickley Furniture, Firebirds Wood Fired Grill and Charlotte's most exclusive fashion boutique - Capitol."

It's not just shopping and dining that make the neighborhood, though. Morrison is embracing Charlotte's arts community as a core component of its identity. Since the fall, Off-Broadway plays have been staged in condominium models; original crafts and paintings are consistently on display in various shops, offices and storefronts; and several local exhibitions have been hosted.

The formal launch of the Morrison Arts Initiative, though, is the 2nd Wednesday in January - when the well-known "Art With Heart Auction" previews work from dozens of emerging and established artists and galleries at Morrison for three weeks leading up to a February 2nd Gala Auction. New exhibits and events are planned for successive 2nd Wednesdays throughout the year, making Morrison a virtual living gallery for Charlotte's eclectic creative community - and providing the "edge" that residents and shoppers love about urban settings.

The vision for Morrison - now coming true - is to be a vibrant urban setting in the midst of leafy, convenient South Park. The growing energy within Morrison - where residents, merchants and shoppers are getting to know each other, and where Charlotte's arts community is finding an open-armed venue for visual and performance art - meshes perfectly with the shady, tree-lined streets and lifestyle amenities of South Park. It's the best of all worlds, and it's becoming - in other words - Charlotte's newest historic neighborhood!
