Instant Gratification In this fast paced town, homeowners want things yesterday! Rodney Hines of The Furniture Connector can fill your house with designer furnishings in the blink of an eye. He can be found Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at his retail showroom with his business partner, Neill England. The Furniture Connector on Brookshire Blvd is five minutes from Uptown. Loaded with market samples, overstock items, close outs, and refurbished furniture; this is a place to visit often. New things come in the front door and get loaded out the back door quickly. Rodney offers to take your shopping list via Email. When he comes across an item that you have been dying for, he gives you a ring and your search is ended. After twelve years as a furniture buyer and assistant designer for a major manufacturer, with a BSA in accounting and marketing, Rodney told Urban Home that he keeps overhead low to pass on the savings to clients with prices often one third of the cost of others. Along with furnishings, Rodney offers home consultations, window treatment and paint plans. Ted Ouimet hired Rodney and Neal to redo his apartment recently. Urban Home talked with Ted and he said, “They did a great job, the place looks exceptional.” He was impressed by their design sense, “I was leery letting them pick colors; I couldn’t picture some of their ideas. But I let them have full reign and I am glad that I did.” In two short weeks, his place was painted, decorated, window treatments installed and he was living in an entirely new space. “We can go in and put all of the clients’ knickknacks, paintings and accessories in what I call, the war room,” said Rodney. “Then I go through everything and revamp the spaces one by one.” Rodney provides furnishings, lighting and accessories and designs a room for YOU and your taste. “I am not going to live in the room with my client,” he adds emphatically. Home staging for builders takes up much of Rodney’s time when he is not at the showroom. He said, “A lot of builders realize now that an empty home doesn’t seem appealing; the layout is hard to visualize without furnishings.” The Furniture Connector recently won “Best in Show” award at the Condo Mojo designer challenge sponsored by Grubb Properties’ 1315 EAST condos in Dilworth. The condo Rodney designed sold within the first week of showing with all of the furnishings! The Furniture Connector is located at 5709 Brookshire Blvd. in Charlotte.
