Like Sparkling Gemstones

Few improvements personalize a home and lend charm like decorative glass. The fascinating patterns, textures and colors truly add an elegant visual impact to any room.

For five years, Carolina Creative Glass and Design and its owner, Pat Conway, have been producing decorative and functional glass for homes and businesses.

The end result can be simply breathtaking, like our attraction to precious stones, we are drawn to objects that sparkle and glisten. The many colors and light reflection found in stained and beveled glass make for attractive additions to any home.

Her inspiration comes from books and other historical window designs. “Most of the time, people come in and they don’t quite know what they want. I can help steer them in a direction based on their tastes and the style of their home.”

Unlike traditional glass replacement techniques with complicated and disruptive installation processes, this glass installs easily in any situation and also meets today’s strict building code regulations.

Carolina Creative Glass and Design has worked on such recognizable Charlotte landmarks as the The Fig Tree Restaurant at The Lucus House and at The Club at Longview. Conway’s work was also featured on Turner South’s Home Makers show featuring the women in construction when they were in Charlotte. Conway provided her expertise and creative window solutions during the restoration of the house in North Davidson for the show.

We asked Conway what the most requested area in the house people want decorative glass. “Bathroom windows over the tub to provide privacy are the most requested, followed closely by entry ways and kitchen cabinets. People want the light coming in, but they want privacy without using the same old window treatment or blinds,” says Conway. “It’s also a great solution for odd-shaped windows and wine closets.”

All of the work is custom--pieces are made to order in her shop, instead of being mass produced and stockpiled. This truly is an art. Whether decorating a bathroom mirror to match the surrounding tiles, or other design elements of the home or its architecture, decorative glass can add richness to any decor.

“From homes undergoing historical renovations to highly personalized privacy panels or other decorative window treatments, we can help,” said Conway. “We have hundreds of colors and textures to choose from. Every piece is custom designed and no two designs are alike.”
