Kitchen Update for A Modern Lifestyle After living with the 1940s kitchen in their Eastover home for 11 years, Tara and Jack Kester were ready to create the kitchen of their dreams. The couple hired Jeanine Devaney with Charlotte In-Vironments for the kitchen design, and Advanced Renovations, a premier general contractor that specializes in renovating homes in some of Charlotte’s oldest and most prestigious neighborhoods, to build their new kitchen. Tara wanted a space that allowed the entire family to relax together, without being underfoot in the kitchen while she and her husband cooked. To accomplish her goals, the home’s former dining room became a keeping room with built-in bookcases where the children can unwind and do homework. The home’s back hall was opened so the kitchen now flows into the family room on one end and the keeping room on the other. Christopher Nestor, Advanced Renovations’ project manager for the Kester’s home, says that although these changes made a dramatic improvement, they didn’t change the footprint of the kitchen. “We took it from a standard 1940s style kitchen to a gourmet kitchen that’s got every bell and whistle,” he says. Tara explains that the kitchen’s new special features make the space as efficient as it is beautiful. “I wanted two dishwashers in the kitchen,” she says. “I was constantly unloading to load, but now it works beautifully.” Other practical amenities include beverage drawers the family can easily access from the keeping room or the family room, a warming drawer, two large farm sinks, a separate bar area, a White Venatino marble island top, and cabinetry covering every appliance, except for the kitchen’s beautiful new French La Cornue dual fuel range. Tara says the remodel has exceeded her expectations, not only in the kitchen’s design, but also the contractors who built her new kitchen. “I knew Advanced Renovations would do a great job,” she says. “They say the devil is in the details, and they were meticulous with this remodel – so creative and professional. Our project manager Christopher Nestor went the extra mile. He approached the job like it was his own house.” “I can’t wait to have the rest of my house look as good as my new kitchen,” says Tara. “I have already talked with Christopher about my next project for them!” Advanced Renovations is located at 3914 Miriam Drive in Charlotte.
